SOCIEDAD PORTUARIA REGIONAL DE SANTA MARTA

7 berthing lines for general cargo in a cove forming an inner harbor with a total length of 1.085 meters.
Pier no. 3 is also used as liquid bulk dock. The loading/discharge rate 120-150 mtons/ hour.
Pier No. 4 is fitted for grains discharge with suction tower and shore crane. Discharge rate of 170 mtons/ hour into two groups of silos. Is also used as liquid bulk dock.
Silos for grains handling with 52,000 mtons capacity
Warehouses with 17,861 sqm
Roofed space for chemicals with 740 square meters
Storage in open yards with 76,019 sqm.
Santa Marta is 24 hours WWDSHINC. No holidays - No weekends
No stoppages. working 24 hours all day long, all week long

RESTRICTIONS:

No loa/ beam/restrictions
No air draft restrictions but take into account that hoppers height
is 08 meters and distance from sea level to quay edge is 1,80 meters.
No bridges no power lines to pass
No bunker available at this port, bunker always supplied by trucks coming
from the ports of Barranquilla and/or Cartagena.
Shore watchmen not compulsory
Garbage removal not compulsory
Fresh water available from pipe lines in quay

Please note that inside the port exists “Carbosan” which is the port operator, undertaking the process for the direct loading of coal into the ships moored at pier 6 and 7 of the terminal. The loading capacity for the coal is estimated in 3,000,000 mtons/ year.


The port also counts with “TERLICA” terminal, for liquid cargo:

Adjacent to the Simon Bolivar Airport. Puerto Prodeco is located 15 kms away from Santa Marta, alternatively known as Puerto Zuñiga is an anchorage coal terminal. Puerto Prodeco’s designated anchorage zone coordinates as follows:

Within Prodeco’ s designated anchorage zone there are two mooring areas which are referred to as alpha and bravo and have the following characteristics:
Alpha is located 2.5 miles from Prodeco pier with mooring buoys, their coordinates are:
Buoy 1 lat 11 07 38 n long 74 16 05 w
Buoy 2 lat 11 07 44 n long 74 16 03 w
Buoy 3 lat 11 07 54 n long 74 16 04 w
Buoy 4 lat 11 08 00 n long 74 16 04 w
Depth 21 meters (for use only when vessels with maximum 18.0 meters sailing draft)
Bravo is located 1,.5 miles from Prodeco pier with 1 mooring buoy.

Depth 121.5 meters (for use only when the vessel with maximum 10.5 meters sailing draft)
Vessel size restrictions:
Maximum loa 310 meters
Maximum beam 43 meters
Maximum drafts 18 meters

16 mtrs ( Distance from Water Line to Top of Hatch Cover and coming in loadable full ballast conditions )
Marine Equipment./ Floating Cranes.
On Cape Size Vessel’s, Puerto Prodeco maintens the right to use three floating cranes for the loading operations, The Master and the Crew are required to cooperate and assist the stevedores when necessary with the mooring and unmooring of the floating cranes and of the barges.

  2. 05 Barges with 1,500 m/tons capacity.
  3. Two tug boats

Loading Rate.
Puerto Prodeco standard loading rates, per total cargo intake, are as set out below:

0 – 9,999 *(including Vessel topoffs )
10,000 – 49,000 12,000 MT
50,000 – 79,999 15,000 MT
80,000 and above 20,000 MT
* subject to mutual agreement with a maximum load rate of 10,000 MT –this shall also apply should Master call for/require additional cargo after completion of the cargo loading and trimming operations. The above loading rates are PWWD SHINC excluding Superholidays.
